Hello, and welcome to my blog, The China Chronicles!

My name is Rachel, I’m an 18 year old high school student currently residing in Canada but originally from New York. My interest in Chinese language and culture partially stems from the time I spent in China – in fact, I lived in Beijing for some time a few years ago. Recently I participated in The 7th Chinese Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students. I decided to describe my adventures in the form of journal entries through this blog. For this reason, the first 10 posts or so pertain to my trip. Soon after I arrived back home, I was inspired to continue writing; my hope is to introduce my readers to China and the allure of it’s culture and history.
